BULWARRA BEES

Liquid gold

Cough Serum

Using a traditional Austrian recipe, we infuse our honey with organic ginger and home grown lemons to bring you a natural and safe cough remedy.  The honey is gently warmed to hive temperature to ensure the enzymes and antibacterial properties remain intact.

Honey Range

When I ask people to try our honey  I often hear ‘all honey tastes the same’ and I get it.  If you’ve been buying store bought honey all your life, it does.  The large food chains want honey that is of a consistent colour and flavour – yellow box is typical.  I’m delighted when customers try our honey range and discover that they all taste so different, and that the flavour is determined by the hive location and where the bees are sourcing their pollen and nectar.

Pure wild honey

We are focused on sustainable bee keeping practices.  Our hives are set up in permanent locations allowing the bees to forage on a wide variety of plants and flowers; unlike commercial beekeeping practises that transport hives across the country for single source varieties.

Local

Just like our bees we want to tread lightly on this earth.  We package our honey in glass not plastic.

Get a taste of the NSW Southern Highlands and join us on our ‘war on waste’.  Shop locally and consume consciously.

Sustainable

By staying small, we retain the quality of our products and minimise our environmental impact.

Unique

Try our Mt Gibraltar dark honey to find out why it has won or placed at the Sydney Royal Easter Show consecutively since 2015.

Us

Bulwarra Bees grew from a respect for nature, a desire to produce our own food and a love of the Southern Highlands.

The collection and extraction process takes place at our farm. Our hives are not medicated and we don’t use chemicals.

Our honey is coarse filtered and unheated maintaining its nutrients and keeping the enzymes intact.

Seasonal

Honey is a seasonal product and supply is affected by many factors; rain at the right time, rain at the wrong time, no rain. We start harvesting our honey in late spring, early summer.  Supply is usually plentiful throughout summer however towards the end of winter you may notice some varieties are no longer available.  Take our creamed honey for example.  It truly is a seasonal product.  We start whipping it in winter when the cold sets it quickly.  We don’t heat or cool our honey; we are consciously keeping our footprint light and are more than happy to let nature do the work for us.
